Changes and Challenges
I’m Joy – Stephanie’s daughter, and I’m doing a guest blog post for my mum!
As most of you probably already know, our family is packing up and trundling off to Northumberland. So when I look at the stress of moving, the finance, the sorting, the dreams and the wishes of how perfect life should be somewhere else, I see what a challenge this is for me as a person. All this cancer nonsense has taken up most of my time, my worrying, my life, and now that it’s pretty much over, I’ve got the time to stand still, take a deep breath, and reflect. To look back on all the crying, the hurt, but also the the laughs and the smiles. I’ve got the time to see that really, life is not all that bad. It seems that although ultimately we don’t know what we’re on this planet for, we have a pretty good time anyway.

It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day routines that we all have, that we don’t change anything, we don’t challenge ourselves. So this move, this is the biggest challenge yet. It’s exciting, and stressful, and horrifically scary. I’ve said so many goodbyes recently, but you know what that means? I’ll be saying a lot more hellos! My mum makes this blog heart-warming, and wonderful to read, but this is my blog post, and I dare you to challenge yourself. Change something, do something different, cook something you’ve never cooked before, get in touch with an old friend, go to a new restaurant, grow a plant, go for a run, draw a picture, buy a top you wouldn’t normally even try on, write a poem or a story, anything!

I’m not asking you to move 300 miles away like I am, I just think that making a little change, or a big one, can really give you a boost. So try it!

Even the smallest change can bring about hugely satisfying results. You are a wise girl.
