‘Pink to make the boys wink,’ my Granda used to say. I’m more of a ‘pink to make me look really washed out and peculiar’ girl, myself. And although I understand the need for a strong identity for causes, there are times when I wish that breast cancer had bagged mauve or indigo or even a lovely bright Granny-Smith-green when the colours were being handed out. Pink, to me, is infantalising and a little bit patronising. (Although whether I would be saying that if pink suited me, made my skin glow and my hair brighten, is a question I must admit I don’t know the answer to…)
But pink is what we have, and here in the midst of Pinktober, I was asked to bake some cupcakes for a fundraiser for
Which I was happy to do.
And I have to admit that, on a cupcake,
pink works.
(It’s my Vanilla Variations recipe, which you’ll find here.)
and they tasted as good as they looked!
I’m glad you liked them!
