Welcome to Bah! coaching, formerly ‘Stephanie makes you think’. This service exists because I’m good at thinking, and understanding thinking.
For many years I’ve been helping teams and organisations to think differently, and to make real, lasting, measurable changes as a result. I’m not a hypnotist, or a therapist, or a consultant. I’m…. well, I’m just me, really.
I’ve gained my thinking skills from two directions. Firstly, I’ve spent much of my career in training and facilitating creativity and thinking skills, using the methods of Dr. Edward de Bono, the world’s leading expert in the teaching of thinking as a skill. In addition, I’ve researched and used techniques drawn from NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and cognitive behavioural therapy, and found some approaches of my own that work. Secondly, after a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2008, I’ve used the thinking tools I see work in multinational companies and government departments,to help me to cope, recover, and thrive.
So, I know a lot about thinking. The main thing that I know is coming up.
Here’s what I know:
Whatever you think the problem is, probably isn’t the problem. The problem is probably with your thinking.
(That’s the end of the ‘what I know’ part. We’re coming on to the explaining part now.)
The problem is probably that no-one has ever taught you to think, or to analyse your thinking process. And that’s the part that I can help you with. I’m bringing everything I’ve learned and showing you how to apply it to your own life, because that’s what worked for me.
It doesn’t matter what the nature of the issue or difficulty is, because you are the expert in that. I’ll help you to look at how you are thinking and see if we can change the thinking. And if we change the thinking…. anything could happen.
There may be all kinds of reasons why Bah! coaching is the right thing for you:
- You’ve been made redundant and aren’t sure what to do next.
- There’s been a big change in your life and you’re disorientated and unsure of what to do for the best.
- You’re not exactly unhappy, but you have a feeling that you’re not quite fulfilling your destiny.
- You’ve been at home with your children for a long time and it’s time to do something else, but the way forward seems fraught with difficulty.
- You’re dancing with cancer, or watching someone else dance with cancer, and you’re struggling.
- There’s something that you’d really love to do, but you’re just not quite sure whether you should or can do it.
- Everything is going really well, but you feel as though you are being carried along by events, and you’d like to be a bit more in control.
- You’re stuck in a rut.
If this sounds like you, you may find that it’s a good time to learn to think differently about your life. And we’ll do that using proven, sensible, straightforward tools and techniques for thinking.
Here’s how it works:
First, at bah (at) bahtocancer (dot) com, giving me a brief outline of what you’d like to work on. I’ll reply and let you know whether I think I can help.
If I think I can’t help, I’ll let you know, and try to put you in touch with someone who can.
If I think I can help, I’ll send you a list of package options. (Prices vary, but to give you an idea, an investment of £40 might be all you need.) I’ll also send you some questions that will help us to decide on the best way to work together.
When you’re ready to go ahead, let me know.
We’ll work mainly by phone, with some email, unless you happen to live nearby, in which case we can work in person.
We’ll start by setting out what needs to happen for you to feel that your time with me is worthwhile.
Then we’ll make a start. We’ll use a blend of thinking tools and techniques to help you to assess options, make decisions, and move forward.
You may find that one session is all you need; we may work together every week during an intense period in your life; we might have a session every 6 months for the next decade. It doesn’t matter, so long as we achieve what you need to achieve.
However long we work together for, we’ll check in regularly to make sure we are still on the right track.
I will keep your details and all of the details of the work that we do confidential.
If you are dancing with cancer, I may be able to work with you free of charge – I know cancer treatment isn’t everyone’s wealthiest time, so I set aside a couple of hours each week to work on a pro bono basis.
