Leftovers

Knitters have long memories. When I was stash-diving and came up with a skein of something reddy-pinky-earthy, flecky and beautiful, I remembered a shawl I saw Tricia wearing, probably about 3 years ago, and decided to knit it. (It’s Aestlight.) The pattern says 540m. The skein had 510. What could possibly go wrong?

On a shawl with a knitted-on border, quite a lot. (I tried to take a picture, but Flora was helping, so… the bit that isn’t done is the bit directly under the kitten-blur.)

I ran out of yarn at, probably, about 20m short.

Fortunately, knitters have long memories, so I went back to the place where I bought the yarn online and, joy of joys, found I could still buy it. (Even more joyous as I write this, because I just went back to try to link to it directly and found that it’s no longer there! Digitessa by Wollmeise, fact fans.)

And I finished the shawl.

And I used the leftovers to knit a rather lovely scarf/shawl thingy, name of Pleiades. (I do like an unspellable knitted item.)

Flora is enjoying the leftovers from this one.

I think I’ll quit while I’m ahead.
