Pretty in pink

You know my position on pink: I’d rather not. You know my feelings about battling language: use it if it’s for you, but I’ll stick with dancing.

So you may be surprised that I’m introducing you to these two:

Maggie-Mae and Ewa-J, Pink Warriors who will be fundraising for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.

I think they are brilliant (a) because the designs are fabulous, (b) because they’re knitted (obviously) and (c) because they are raising money for Maggie’s Centres, which are the most fantastic places for anyone dancing with cancer. And, for all I dislike pinkage and battling, I do understand that they have got a lot of people through some horrible times. The designer’s words about these dolls are moving and inspiring, and they’re here.

The patterns for the dolls aren’t available yet… Maggie-Mae will be in Knitting magazine’s October issue, available on 27 September 2012, and Ewa-J on Ravelry shortly afterwards. I’ll keep you posted on their progress, but until then, I wanted to let you know that these are coming up. You can keep an eye on them, and support their progress, by liking them on Facebook here. And maybe start thinking about who you might knit one for…

Hello Stephanie. Thank you for supporting Pink Warriors and your inspirations. Like you, I am not a pinki person either. My wee nieces love all things pink and I have been knitting for them, so I have accumulated many shades of pink. As breast cancer is associated with pink that I naturally make use of one particular shades of pink.

I too, have a little corner where I post little inspirational quotes just to remind me of the many possibilities other than the shades of black. “Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know” will be on my little corner. Thank you.

Hello Gwyn, welcome. It’s my pleasure to support you. And I too have nieces who would paint the world pink if they could!
