Following the shawl jag, you’ll remember that I started on some socks.
Well, they’re done.
They’re sparkly and comfy and pretty as anything.
(The pattern is V-Junkie from this book.)
I knitted another sparkly pair, as a present for Scarlet.
(The pattern is Monkey, freeĀ here.)
And I’ve just cast these on. Toe-up instead of cuff-down, just for the crazy sock-knitting hell of it.
But I’m also knitting a blanket. So it’s not a jag. It’s not.

Ooohh very nice. Have never tried toe-up myself (mostly because I do not like the heels I have come across). Have seen the Monkey ones on Ravelry of course!
What is the sparkly yarn? (… asks the mother of two twentysomething daughters)
Love that blanket – could you tell us what the stitch and wool are?
Thanks all! Joanna, I cannot for the life of me remember where I got the sparkly yarns, but the magic ingredient is Stellina, and there are some pretty ones here: http://www.getknitted.com/acatalog/Jillybean_Twinkle_Sock_.html
Sue, it’s a made-up blanket but the technique is log cabin. If you click on this link http://www.masondixonknitting.com/archives/2004_02.html and scroll down to the February 15 entry, you’ll get an idea of how it works. The yarn is Rico Aran from Treacle wool shop: http://www.treaclewoolshop.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=59_63_162 and, if you’re anywhere near the north east of England and free on the 23rd of June, I’m running a workshop on how to make a log cabin blanket: http://www.treaclewoolshop.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=107_411&product_id=560
Item three is not a sock. It is a pair of knickers for a doll.
Thank you for the log cabin tips. I wish I could be in the north east on the 23 June, I’d be at the log cabin blanket workshop like a shot! But I fear it’s too far from Ramsgate…..
